546 (541 Ayurvedic and 05 Unani) government Ayurvedic and Unani hospitals and 02 hospitals are operated in Government Ayurvedic College Rishikul and Gurukul Kangdi, Haridwar.
AYUSH wings are established in 206 allopathic hospitals, in which 26 AYUSH wings operate in district hospitals and 180 AYUSH wings operate in government allopathic hospitals.
Under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), AYUSH wings are operated in 29 Community Health Centers and 154 Primary Health Centers, in which the funds for medicines and decorations are provided by the Department of AYUSH, Government of India and the amount of salary is provided by the National Rural Health Mission.

Ayurved Training

Ayurvedic Nurses Training

In Uttarakhand, arrangements for training of Ayurvedic nurses are in Rishikul Government Ayurvedic College, Haridwar, in which 20 Ayurvedic nurses (nurses) are admitted every year and the admission process is done on the basis of merit. Apart from this, nurses training is also being conducted in four private sector institutions, the details of which are as follows.

Ayurvedic Education

A total of 05 Ayurvedic colleges are operated in Uttarakhand to provide Ayurvedic education, in which 02 are government Ayurvedic colleges and 03 are operated in the private sector. Rishikul Government Ayurvedic College, Haridwar of Government sector has facility of post graduate training in 07 subjects.

Government Ayurvedic and Unani Colleges of the state are working in Rishikul and Gurukul Haridwar respectively which are affiliated to Ayurvedic University Dehradun.

Ayurved Drug Manufacturing and Control

Ayurvedic medicine manufacturing in Uttarakhand, a government drug factory for manufacturing Ayurvedic medicines is operated in Rishikul Haridwar, in which classical medicines are being manufactured according to the demand of government Ayurvedic hospitals.

Drug Control

In the Directorate of Drug Control, Ayurvedic and Yunani Services, Uttarakhand, Dehradun, the State Drug Licensing Officer has been appointed for the state of Uttarakhand, issuing licenses to new drug factories, their renewal and work related to GMP certificate is done under the direction of the director.

According to the easy availability of herbs in the state of Uttarakhand, at present 208 pharmacies are operating for the manufacture of Ayurvedic and Unani medicines. In which 01 government pharmacy, 01 operated by Government of India and 02 co-operative sector and remaining private sector pharmacies are operated. Presently 187 of these pharmacies are GMP certificate holders and efforts are being made to get GMP certificate for the remaining pharmacies, in which Himalaya, Vaidyanath, Dabur, Emami, Patanjali and V.L.C.C., Multani, Deshrakshak are well known in the country/abroad. , Maheshwari, Wanlab etc.

State Drug Testing Laboratory

The State Drug Testing Laboratory has been established in Haridwar with the combined efforts of the Department of AYUSH, Government of India and the State Government, and is owned by the private sector.
